Aloha, from Kihei Maui,
As far back as I can remember, art has been part of my life. From my earliest school years, drawing and art were always my favorite subjects, and I consistently received the highest grades in my Art class. From my teenage years, I was drawn to painting and calligraphy, fascinated by beauty, color, form, and the quiet discipline of creating something meaningful by hand.
Over the years, that passion grew into a lifelong artistic journey. I started selling my paintings here and there for the past 10 years. By selling my art I was able to stay in Maui.
Living in Hawaii, especially on the island of Maui, opened my eyes to a world of natural beauty that continues to inspire my work every day. Today, I am exploring a new direction in my art.
I work with extraordinary pieces of exotic wood gathered throughout the islands, including Koa, Monkeypod, Palm wood, and other rare reclaimed woods. Including woods from Lahaina fire. Read my note about using Lahaina Fire Wood HERE.
Each piece is carefully cleaned, restored, and prepared by hand before becoming a unique work of art.
The wood itself tells part of the story.
Each piece is made with love. No two pieces are ever the same. Every work I create is a one-of-a-kind original, bringing together nature, craftsmanship, and imagination.
My goal is simple: to create collectible art that is a long term investmentĀ and captures a sense of wonder and memory and gives people a lasting connection to nature, beauty, and the spirit of the islands with my signature.
With love,
Jay Joya
